He alleged that there has been a “positive dynamic” since the Alaska summit between Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump - where Putin expressed willingness to work on providing security guarantees for Ukraine — but only under the condition that Ukraine remains non-nuclear, neutral, and outside of any military alliance.
However, Galuzin complained that the Ukrainian government continues to reject the idea of addressing what Russia calls the fundamental causes of the war. Without this, he added, the rest of the agreements cannot be implemented.
On Aug. 16, during a post-summit meeting, Putin reiterated the narrative of wanting to “end the fighting in Ukraine as soon as possible” — again emphasizing that resolving the so-called “root causes” must serve as the foundation for further progress.
At a joint press conference with President Trump in Alaska on Aug. 15, Putin repeated debunked narratives about Ukraine and said he hoped to “open the path to peace.”
Russian dictator and war criminal cynically called Ukrainians a “brotherly people” and claimed that Russia and Ukraine share “the same roots.” He falsely professed a sincere desire to end the war, but argued that this will only be possible if the so-called “causes of the crisis” were removed.
“It is necessary to consider all of Russia’s legitimate interests and restore a just balance of security in Europe and the world as a whole,” Putin declared.
In his remarks on Aug. 16, Putin doubled down, saying that eliminating these causes must come first before any real peace can be pursued.
