Kremlin: Russia will retaliate for Ukraine’s drone strike when ready

Speaking to Russian state outlet RIA Novosti on June 5, Peskov said Russia would retaliate “when the military considers it appropriate.”

He added that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin told U.S. President Donald Trump during their phone call on Tuesday, June 3, that Moscow would respond to the airfield attacks.

The New York Times previously reported that U.S. intelligence has yet to determine which targets Russia might strike in retaliation for Ukraine’s operation. However, officials suspect Russia may launch drone attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure or energy facilities in response.

The Cobweb operation, coordinated by Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU), struck four Russian air bases and damaged at least 41 aircraft, according to Ukrainian sources. The aircraft had been used to launch missile strikes on Ukrainian cities.
