Massive drone strike calls Russia’s 'local operation' narrative into question

The British Ministry of Defense notes that Russian state media have downplayed coverage of Ukraine's recent drone attack.

On March 11, Russia reported its largest-ever drone attack, primarily targeting Moscow Oblast. The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that 337 Ukrainian drones were "shot down."

The General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces later confirmed the attack and reported the destruction of the Moscow Oil Refinery and a Druzhba oil pipeline facility in Oryol Oblast.

The operation involved the SOF, SBU, HUR, and other Defense Forces units.

Russian authorities reported two fatalities and 20 injuries from the attack.

However, the General Staff clarified that the damage to civilian infrastructure was caused by Russian air defense, not by direct drone strikes.
