Latvian government websites hit by major DDoS cyberattack

The disruption affected the State Revenue Service website (vid.gov.lv), the national portal Latvija.lv, the government site mk.gov.lv, and pages of several ministries, local authorities, and other state institutions.

According to LVRTC, all affected resources have since been restored. Most sites were unavailable for about an hour, though some remained down for as long as 80 minutes. Others stayed online but worked at significantly reduced speeds.

Cybersecurity experts are still investigating the attack, LVRTC said, promising more details once their analysis is complete.

Latvia’s cybersecurity incident response center Cert.lv confirmed it is working closely with LVRTC to determine the source and nature of the cyberattack.
