Ukraine’s second-ranked player Marta Kostyuk addressed her round-of-16 loss to Czechia's Linda Noskova at the US Open, falling 5–7, 7–5, 3–6 to the world No. 6.
Speaking after the match, Kostyuk disclosed that she competed with an injury to her right wrist and plans to undergo an MRI scan.
"I definitely wasn’t at 100%," Kostyuk acknowledged.
The Ukrainian highlighted the electric backing from spectators in the stands during a contest in which she saved five match points.
"I have never heard an entire stadium cheer for me like that," she said.
"It was incredibly loud, and I just wanted to soak in the moment. That energy stayed until the very end. It was unbelievable, and it made it impossible not to smile."
Kostyuk stressed that she walked off the court grateful for the on-court atmosphere despite the scoreline.
"I just lost a match. Sure, it's a Grand Slam, and the match was extremely intense, but I feel very happy and no result can change that. At the end of the day, it’s just a tennis match, so everything is fine," Kostyuk stated, quoted by BTU [Big Tennis Ukraine - ed.] via Yahoo Sports.
With her run in New York, Kostyuk matched her personal career record at the US Open by reaching the fourth round. Over the course of the 2026 Grand Slam season, Kostyuk reached the semifinals at both Roland Garros and Wimbledon after exiting the Australian Open in the first round.
