Sumy under attack: 10 drones rip through city in one hour

Russia launched 10 drones at Sumy within one hour; strikes hit Kovpakivskyi district, including a nine-storey apartment block and a two-storey house, local administration wrote on Oct. 31.

Updated 1 a.m.: 10 unmanned aerial vehicles were directed at the city in just one hour. Impacts struck residential buildings, including a nine-storey apartment block and a two-storey house. A fire broke out in the high-rise; civilians were wounded.

Earlier on Oct. 30, acting mayor Artem Kobzar said that at least five strikes had been recorded.

Local Telegram channels and media later reported that the occupiers had hit a high-rise in Sumy — a fire broke out at the site of the impact.

The commander of the Sumy regional rapid-response unit, Volodymyr Moskalenko, told Suspilne that there were no fatalities as a result of the hit on the high-rise; the condition of one woman is being clarified.

Earlier on Oct. 30, the head of the Sumy Regional State Administration apparatus, Ihor Kalchenko, reported an attack on Sumy and a strike on a gas station.

“Around 11:15 a UAV impact was recorded, preliminarily of the Italmas type, on one of the filling stations in the Zarichnyi district of the city," the official said.

"Four people were injured.”

As later clarified by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES), four people were injured as a result of the Russian drone strike on the gas station.
