The tradition of cooking Matsyk, an ancient Ukrainian dry-cured meat dish, has been included in the list of intangible cultural heritage, the Department of Culture, Tourism, Youth, and Sports wrote on Dec. 17.
A list of 15 elements of intangible cultural heritage was approved to be included in the Register of Intangible Cultural Heritage Elements at a recent meeting of a working group at the Rivne Regional State Administration.
The tradition of cooking matsyk, proposed by the Varash community in Rivne Oblast, where the dish is still prepared in local villages, was among them.
