The SES said two people were killed in a strike in the Shevchenkivskyi district that collapsed the stairwell of a five-story apartment building from the first through the fifth floors. A total of 92 people were injured in the attack, including three minors, and 13 people were rescued from beneath the rubble, the service said.
“Rescuers, municipal workers, medics, psychologists, and
volunteers worked here without pause for two days, fighting for lives, helping
people and clearing debris,” the SES said.
Workers removed more than 165 square meters of unstable reinforced-concrete structures and hauled away more than 1,080 cubic meters of building rubble. Canine teams searched about 100 square meters of the ruined building for survivors.
The May 24 attack was the largest on Kyiv by number of damaged sites since Russia’s full-scale invasion began, authorities said. About 300 objects were damaged, including dozens of apartment buildings, museums, schools, government offices, shopping mall spaces, and the Lukianivska metro station.
Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia struck the country overnight
with 90 missiles and about 600 drones, targeting the capital and surrounding areas.
An Oreshnik intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) was launched at Bila
Tserkva, Kyiv Oblast. It apparently missed its likely intended target (an
airfield) and struck a nearby garage complex.
