Five Russian drones violate Moldovan airspace during massive strike on Ukraine

The first drone crossed the border from Ukraine near Biliaivka, returning to Ukrainian territory just a minute later. A second drone entered Moldovan airspace near Starokozache, disappearing from radar over Carahasani near Stefan Voda.

The third drone flew over the villages of Palanca, Crocmaz, Olenești, Purcari, and Răscăieți, before disappearing from radar near Pervomaisc in the breakaway Transnistria region. A fourth drone crossed the border near Palanca and almost immediately returned to Ukrainian airspace.

A fifth drone was spotted near the Saiți checkpoint before turning back toward Ukraine. The Moldovan Ministry of Defense noted that all five incursions occurred during Russian airstrikes on Ukraine, adding that local services and international partners continue to closely monitor the airspace.

Russia's August 27 airstrike on Ukraine

Russian forces launched a massive drone strike across Ukraine overnight on August 27. Explosions were reported in Odesa, Kyiv, and Kryvyi Rih, as well as throughout the Poltava and Sumy Oblasts.

Local authorities in Odesa reported that Russian forces targeted the city all through the night and into the morning, damaging local infrastructure, a school, and an apartment building.

Russian ballistic missiles also struck Kyiv during the overnight attack, with debris crashing in the Podilskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts. Explosions shook the city at approximately 3:03 a.m. and 3:28 a.m. local time following Air Force reports of missiles approaching the city.

In Kryvyi Rih, a Russian strike on an industrial facility injured at least two people.

In total, overnight, Russian forces launched two anti-ship Oniks anti-ship missiles, Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, and 258 drones. Strikes were reported in 15 locations, with debris from shot-down drones crashing in 11 locations.
