“There were no restrictions or circumstances related to allowing this Ukrainian citizen to cross the state border on July 1, 2026,” the agency said.
“No database alerts, including from Interpol, indicated that she was wanted when she underwent border control,” the statement said.
All border crossing points are connected to Interpol databases, allowing border guards to instantly check individuals and vehicles listed as wanted, the State Border Guard Service said.
Berezovska killing: What is known
Ukrainska Pravda reported July 7 that the body of a woman suspected of involvement in the attempted murder of Yermolaiev was found near Kyiv on the evening of July 6.
The woman was identified as 39-year-old Ukrainian citizen Anastasia Berezovska, whom Interpol had placed on a wanted list over an explosion in Monaco that injured three people: Yermolaiev, his partner and his son.
Ukraine’s Security Service, or SBU, later confirmed that Berezovska’s body had been found.
Investigators established that after returning to Ukraine, she had communicated with her family and two men.
One of the men is a former law enforcement officer, while the other is a serving employee of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence Directorate, or HUR.
Both men were served notices of suspicion on murder charges.
One of the suspects told investigators about the killing and alleged the other suspect’s involvement, prosecutors said.
Based on his testimony, law enforcement officers conducted an investigative experiment and identified the location where Berezovska’s body had been found.
