Former deputy head of the President’s Office Iryna Mudra lobbied for Mykola Hladyschenko to be given a seat on the supervisory board of state-owned Sense Bank, investigative outlet Slidstvo.Info reported on Sept. 3, citing a parliamentary committee probing Sense Bank corruption.

The recruiting company initially excluded Hladyschenko from its shortlist of candidates because he received the lowest score. However, after Mudra’s recommendation, the company added him to the list and invited him for an interview. Hladyschenko later joined Sense Bank’s supervisory board and eventually became its chairman.

The selection process was conducted by Executive Search Ukraine, an AMROP recruitment firm.

During the committee hearing, company director Viesturs Liegis said Hladyschenko was not included in the original shortlist. According to Liegis, Hladyschenko received the lowest score among 111 applicants under the approved evaluation methodology.

Liegis said other candidates scored higher, particularly in terms of qualifications and experience, so the company initially did not recommend Hladyschenko for inclusion on the list.

The company stated that the competition commission made the final decisions on the candidates, while Executive Search Ukraine only provided selection services.

According to Liegis, Mudra, who served on the competition commission as a representative of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, recommended that several candidates be considered. Hladyschenko was among those added to the revised shortlist. He later passed an interview and was appointed to Sense Bank’s supervisory board.

On Aug. 19, Zelenskyy dismissed Mudra as deputy head of the Office of the President.

On Aug. 21, the government terminated Hladyschenko’s term as chairman of Sense Bank’s supervisory board. Both he and Mudra are implicated in the money laundering scheme investigated by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU).

According to investigators, Mudra communicated with Sense Bank’s top managers, including board Chairman Oleksii Stupak and Hladyschenko, and asked them to participate in the alleged scheme.
