He noted that Russian aggression has resulted in numerous airspace violations of NATO countries by drones and missiles.
"Especially yesterday in Romania. I want to emphasize that NATO stands in solidarity with Romania and calls on the Romanian authorities to respond quickly and effectively to this incident," Rutte said.
On the night of Oct. 18, Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine using Shahed drones, prompting air alerts in several regions, with air defense systems active in Kyiv and the surrounding area.
Ukrainian defense forces destroyed 80 Russian drones involved in the attack, while 44 drones were lost in the area.
Media reports indicate that on Oct. 17, Romania deployed four fighter jets after an unidentified object, believed to be a drone, violated its airspace, entering up to 14 kilometers into the southeastern county of Constanta.
