Gvozdiar told Forbes Ukraine at the European Business Summit that the P1-Sun, made by Ukrainian company Skyfall, is among several low-cost interceptor drones now in use.
“Ukrainian manufacturers have created interceptor drones with an average cost of up to $3,000,” Gvozdiar said. She added that the use of such systems allows Ukraine’s forces to intercept as many as 90 percent of Russian Shaheds.
“No country can produce enough missiles for air defenses to intercept everything Russia launches,” she said.
“In January alone there were more than 6,000 [enemy] missiles and drones [attacking Ukraine].”
Gvozdiar said even a cheap surface-to-air missile can cost
$20,000 to $30,000, while a Shahed can cost up to $50,000.
