Tkachenko inspected the ongoing operations in downtown Pechersk, where special equipment has been working for the second consecutive day.
The State Emergency Service (SES) data indicated 75 rescuers and 19 units of equipment being involved in clearing debris at the attack site.
Drone attack on Kyiv, Jan. 1
On the New Year’s Eve, air raid sirens sounded across multiple oblasts. The enemy launched Shahed drones against Ukraine, and explosions were heard in Kyiv early in the morning.
The attack on the Pecherskyi district caused partial destruction of two floors in a residential building and triggered a fire.
Renowned neurobiologist Ihor Zima and his wife, biologist Olesia Sokur, were killed in the attack, seven people more were injured.
Drone debris also landed on the roof of a National Bank building. Additionally, the National Writers’ Union building on Bankova Street was damaged.
Tram tracks were damaged about 100 meters from a depot, and a non-residential building caught fire in the Sviatoshynskyi district, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported.
