Police rescue 70-year-old refugee whose overloaded car broke down on Kyiv street

The officers shared a tragic story of the man on Facebook.

The car owner is an internally displaced person from Donetsk Oblast who moved to Chernihiv Oblast with his wife after the start of the full-scale invasion. However, Russian attacks caught up with the elderly couple in their new home as well.

The man's wife was killed in the enemy strike. The 70-year-old Ukrainian then packed his whole life into one old car and set off in a safer direction.

"He fit the most precious things he could take: belongings, household appliances, 18 chickens, and a dog. But the car could not withstand the long journey and eventually broke down," National Police of Ukraine representatives noted.

This happened in Kyiv. A passerby saw the confused man and asked law enforcement for help. Police officers spoke with the man, calmed him down, and assisted him. Law enforcement officers towed the broken vehicle to an auto repair shop so the man could fix it and continue his journey.
