Ukrenergo names Chernihiv Oblast worst hit by outages after Russian strikes

Several consecutive enemy attacks in Chernihiv Oblast damaged energy equipment, forcing the introduction of hourly power outages.

The restrictions are expected to be lifted as soon as the situation in the energy system stabilizes.

According to Ukrenergo, electricity consumption is showing an upward trend due to cloudy weather across much of Ukraine. This reduces the efficiency of household solar power systems and increases demand from the general grid, the company said.

On March 25, the press service of Chernihivoblenergo said that about 150,000 consumers in Chernihiv and the surrounding area were left without electricity due to a Russian attack.

On March 21, it was reported that Russian strikes on energy infrastructure left Chernihiv and part of Oblast without power.

Chernihivoblenergo also said a key energy facility in the Nizhyn district of Oblast was damaged in the attack.

On March 24, the Energy Ministry said that a Russian mass strike on critical infrastructure left some consumers in six oblasts without electricity.

These included Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv and Kherson oblasts. The ministry said energy workers are operating in an enhanced mode to restore electricity supply to all consumers as quickly as possible.
