Unknown flying object explodes in Polish cornfield, no injuries reported

Police received the call shortly after 2:00 a.m. At the scene, officers found charred debris of various sizes — metal and plastic — scattered over dozens of meters. They said the origin of the fragments has not yet been established and that the area is still being examined.

The blast damaged three nearby houses, blowing out windows, but there were no casualties. The Defense Ministry confirmed it was aware of the incident.

According to the local portal Łuków.TV, the consequences appear serious. A crater formed at the impact site, and among the debris a propeller-like object was found. Journalists also published a video showing a bright flash in the night sky followed by a loud explosion.

Residents say a loud noise woke them, making windowpanes rattle; in the morning they saw police cars. Firefighters also worked at the scene to secure the area.

Poland’s Armed Forces Operational Command said no violation of Polish airspace was detected. Preliminary findings suggest the object could be part of an old engine. Emergency services are on site analyzing the debris.

On the same night, Russian forces carried out missile and drone strikes on Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the enemy used two Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 93 strike UAVs — including Shaheds and various decoy drones — with hits recorded at 20 locations.
