Gold-dealing company Pro Aurum has unveiled the world’s most expensive Christmas tree, crafted from 2,024 Vienna Philharmonic gold coins. The extravagant creation, weighing over 60 kilograms (132 pounds), is valued at $5.5 million. At its peak sits a coin made of 24-karat gold, making it a dazzling centerpiece for the holiday season, The Sun reported on Dec. 6.
“The golden Christmas tree impressively illustrates the timeless value of precious metals,” Pro Aurum stated.

The company has no plans to sell the tree, saying the project was intended to showcase the enduring value of gold rather than serve as a commercial product.

While the opulent display has drawn admiration, it has also sparked criticism. Some have labeled the tree “tone-deaf” and out of touch, given the global cost-of-living crisis affecting millions.
