Russian President Vladimir Putin’s adviser Anton Kobyakov claimed that Russian airspace remains safe for flights despite repeated drone attacks and major disruptions at the country’s airports.

Russian authorities have taken “all possible measures” to ensure aviation safety, Kobyakov told Russian media on Sept. 2.

“I am confident that our airspace is safe,” he said.

His remarks came amid another drone attack on Moscow.

Russian media reported on the evening of Sept. 2 that more than 120 flights had been canceled or delayed at two of the Russian capital’s key airports, Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo.

Authorities imposed the so-called Carpet regime at Moscow airports because of the drone threat. The measure restricts or temporarily suspends flights.

Some flights were postponed until the following day.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously warned that Russian airspace was becoming increasingly dangerous for civilian aviation because of widespread drone activity.

Ukraine has also formally notified the International Civil Aviation Organization, or ICAO, of the risks and urged airlines to avoid Russian airspace.
