Security guarantees must be established for Russia as well after the war in Ukraine ends, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin claimed at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok on Sep. 5

Moscow would allegedly “respect security guarantees, which, of course, must be developed for both Russia and Ukraine.”

At the same time, Putin ruled out the possibility of the Kremlin accepting the deployment of Western troops to Ukraine as part of a peacekeeping mission, calling them "legitimate targets for destruction."

He claimed that deploying foreign troops in Ukraine would be “pointless” if agreements were made to facilitate peace and end the war.

This follows the Sep. 4 statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that 26 countries had agreed to jointly provide security guarantees for Kyiv.

“Thirty-five countries are taking part in the broader coalition; twenty-six directly support security guarantees in various formats,” he said after the Coalition of the Willing summit in Paris led by French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
