Russian dictator Vladimir Putin shared with Russian propagandists what kind of European Union negotiator he would consider acceptable for talks with Russia.
Putin said he would like to see an EU representative who “hasn’t said nasty things” about Russia.
The Russian dictator added that he would be comfortable with former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder serving as the EU’s negotiator.
Schröder served as Germany’s chancellor from 1998 to 2005 and led the Social Democratic Party of Germany from 1999 to 2004.
After leaving office, Schröder spent years working for Russian energy companies and has long been considered a close associate of Putin.
Schröder met with Putin in Moscow several weeks after Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 and again in July that year.
Following both meetings, Schröder claimed Russia was interested in ending the war.
