Mobile internet in Ukraine will reportedly become better and faster, and Ukrainians will be able to check its quality themselves.
"Internet speed will become a mandatory indicator of connection quality," the ministry reported. "Fixed megabits per second will be set for internet speed, and mobile operators will provide services within this standard."
Ukrainians will be able to independently check mobile internet quality via smartphones.
"Information on quality and speed will be transmitted to the sector regulator NCEC for analysis," the ministry reported. "This will help identify network weak spots and respond to issues promptly."
The bill also lifts the moratorium on checking license compliance. This will incentivize operators to build base stations in rural areas to reduce dead zones, the ministry said.
"National roaming will continue operating after martial law ends," the statement said.
“Ukrainians will still be able to use other operators' networks to stay connected in crisis situations. We hope the president will sign the bill soon.”
As previously reported, Ukraine's largest mobile operator Kyivstar plans a major telecom network modernization project for 2025-2026. The goal is to improve service quality, increase 4G network capacity and prepare for fifth-generation mobile connectivity rollout.
