Radio Liberty’s Russian service, along with volunteers from the Geoconfirmed project, used photos and videos to pinpoint the exact coordinates of nine crash sites.
Five additional locations were identified based on information published in local media. Most drones fell in eastern Poland, with one crashing in the northern Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship.
Polish authorities reported that 19 Russian drones violated the country’s airspace during an overnight attack on Ukraine on Sept. 10. Preliminary data indicate four drones were shot down. Poland’s Interior Ministry also reported finding debris from an unidentified missile.
One drone damaged a residential building in Wyryki-Wola, Lublin Voivodeship, but no injuries were reported.
Warsaw convened an emergency government meeting and heightened security measures. NATO subsequently activated Article 4, which calls for consultations among member states when one faces a threat.
Polish officials believe the incursion of Russian drones into their territory was intentional.
