In the Russian city of Abakan, a rat got into a transformer station, causing a short circuit and power outage in part of the city, the local media reported on Jan. 25.

The incident occurred the day before, when a short circuit at the transformer station left a section of the private sector without electricity.

According to Russian media, the blackout was caused by a rodent that had managed to enter the facility.

Meanwhile, last week in Buryatia, a hapless thief attempted to steal vodka from a store but got stuck on the counter. He entered a 24-hour shop, threatened the staff with a toy gun, and demanded a bottle of vodka. However, the cashier hid in a back room, and the would-be thief got himself trapped trying to grab the bottle.

In another bizarre incident, Russian Romani thieves attempted to rob a church during the baptism of their own children. Later, they returned the stolen icons.
