In Bahatyr, also on the Pokrovsk front, Russian troops attempted to raise their tricolor flag on May 15, but the group was eliminated, DeepState reported, noting intense Russian infantry pressure on Ukrainian Defense Forces in the village.
"They storm into the village, hide in houses, and try to accumulate for further advancement," the monitoring group said.
“So far, they have managed to get into the southern part of the village, but the Defense Forces are trying to destroy everything that moves towards the village and clear the area.”.
The group reported significant Russian casualties in Bahatyr.
On May 13, the Financial Times reported that Russia is redeploying troops to high-pressure frontlines, possibly preparing for a larger offensive.
CNN reported on May 15 that Russia is amassing forces for a new offensive, potentially targeting Kyiv’s outskirts.
Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief, Oleksandr Syrskyi, said Russia’s combined troop grouping totals up to 640,000 personnel across a 1,100-kilometer front.
