The project's updated battle map shows the Russian troops have seized Nove and made further advances in Chasiv Yar, Malynivka, and near Nova Poltavka.
As of Feb. 18, 2025, Donetsk Military Administration data indicted 784 settlements in Donetsk Oblast were under temporary Russian occupation — 447 of them since 2014 — accounting for approximately 60.4% of the Oblast’s total settlements.
Situation in Donetsk Oblast
On April 21, Ukrainian forces reportedly pushed Russian troops back south of Udachne in the Pokrovsk district.
On April 23, the Khortytsia Operational-Strategic Group said that Russia was still attempting to reach the administrative border between Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts by May 9.
On April 29, Defense Forces spokesperson Vladyslav Voloshyn warned of intensified Russian efforts near the borders of Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya, and Donetsk oblasts, especially on the Novopavlivka axis.
On April 30, DeepState reported that Russian troops had captured Sukha Balka and made progress near three other settlements in Donetsk Oblast.
On May 1, DeepState noted that in April 2025 alone, Russia had captured approximately 175 square kilometers of territory — with the most significant gains near Sukha Balka and Kalynove, totaling about 50 square kilometers, or nearly a third of all monthly losses.
On May 4, analysts confirmed the occupation of Zelene Pole, another village in Donetsk Oblast.
