Russian troops deliberately targeted the region’s energy infrastructure over the weekend, according to DTEK.
As a result, 67 settlements were left without power.
A fire broke out at one of the facilities and was quickly extinguished by emergency crews from the State Emergency Service, DTEK said. Power workers are now waiting for clearance from sappers before beginning restoration work.
Overnight into June 8, Russia attacked Ukraine with 155 strike drones, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas and Banderol drones, as well as Parodiya decoy drones.
Ukraine’s air defenses neutralized 124 Russian drones over the country’s north, south and east. Authorities recorded 20 drone strikes at 17 locations, as well as debris from downed targets falling at six sites.
Overnight, Russia also struck the town of Konotop, leaving part of the city without electricity. At least three people were injured after a strike on an apartment building. Hits were also reported in Kharkiv, where a Ukrposhta mail hub was damaged, and explosions were reported in the city of Dnipro.
