Russian forces attacked Ukraine’s Volyn Oblast with Shahed-type attack drones early Wednesday, Jan. 28, according to Roman Romaniuk, head of the regional military administration.
Air raid alerts were issued in the Kamin-Kashyrskyi, Kovel, and Lutsk districts.
No casualties were reported, Romaniuk said, without providing details on possible damage.
Earlier on Jan. 28, Ukraine’s Air Force warned of incoming strike drones in Volyn region, including drones heading toward Lutsk. Lutsk Mayor Ihor Polishchuk said at least four drones were detected near the regional capital.
Local monitoring channels reported air defense activity and explosions in Lutsk.
Overnight, Russia launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine using an Iskander-M ballistic missile and 146 drones, including about 90 Shahed-type drones. Ukrainian air defenses destroyed 103 drones, the Air Force said.
