The Russian military attacked Dnipro with an experimental intermediate-range ballistic missile Oreshnik, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin said on Nov. 21.

In his address, the Russian leader described the attack which used a conventional warhead as “response to attacks by British and American weapons.”

Putin also claimed that Russia would allegedly target countries allowing their weapons to be used against Russian targets. The Kremlin leader said advanced anti-aircraft systems, "including American elements in Europe," allegedly could not intercept Oreshnik missiles.

Previously, CNN, citing a U.S. official, reported that Russia used an experimental intermediate-range ballistic missile during the strike on Dnipro on the morning of Nov. 21.

The official also stated that Ukraine "withstood numerous Russian missile attacks, which had significantly more powerful warheads than the missile launched at Dnipro on Nov. 21."

According to the Ukrainian military, the missile was launched from Russia’s Astrakhan Oblast.
