Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 163 strike drones — including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas and other types — overnight into May 2, the Ukrainian Air Force reported.

About 100 of the drones were Shahed models.

Ukrainian air defenses, including aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, drone systems, and mobile fire groups, worked to repel the assault.

As of 8 a.m., air defenses had neutralized 142 Russian drones across northern, southern, and eastern regions.

However, 17 drones struck 12 locations, with debris from downed targets falling in two additional places. The Air Force warned that the attack was still ongoing, with enemy drones remaining in the sky.

A Russian drone flew into a 12th-floor apartment in Kharkiv’s Shevchenkivskyi district overnight but failed to detonate, injuring one resident with glass shards. Two others suffered acute stress reactions.

In the morning, Russia hit infrastructure in Kryvyi Rih with attack drones, sparking a fire that was later extinguished; no casualties were reported.
