On Dec. 29, Ukrainian airspace recorded the smallest number of Russian drones in recent weeks.
“We’re seeing this trend: on Dec. 29, there were just 25 drones — the lowest number in this period," Ihnat said.
"Then the number increased to 62 across Ukraine. After that, we saw 127, then 200 drones. Today, there were 116 UAVs involved in the attack.”
He stressed that both civilians and the military fully expected large-scale Russian strikes, especially given repeated warnings from Ukraine’s leadership and intelligence services.
Ihnat reminded that Russia typically carries out mass missile and drone attacks every year on New Year’s night.
Throughout 2025, nearly 19,000 air raid alerts sounded in Ukraine due to the threat of Russian strikes. The longest alert of the year occurred in Chernihiv Oblast on Oct. 8 and lasted 49 hours and 34 minutes. In Kyiv alone, the cumulative duration of air raid alerts exceeded 30 days over the year.
