Russia attacks railway infrastructure in Poltava Oblast, several trains delayed

The company deployed backup diesel locomotives. Ukrzaliznytsia reported the following trains were delayed by up to three hours:

• № 102 Kherson — Kramatorsk

• № 63/111 Kharkiv, Izium — Lviv

• № 64/112 Lviv — Kharkiv, Izium

• № 791 Kremenchuk — Kyiv.

As of 7:00 a.m. on Sept. 18, the damage was localized and power was restored. Ukrzaliznytsia said trains will continue under their own power.

Poltava Oblast governor Volodymyr Kohut clarified that Russian forces struck railway infrastructure in the Myrhorod district. Fires broke out and one person was injured.

On the evening of Sept. 17, Russian forces also struck a gas station in Poltava Oblast with a drone, sparking a fire and injuring four people. Overnight, Ukraine’s Air Force reported another wave of Russian drones targeting Poltava Oblast.

On Sept. 17, Russian attacks on substations powering the railway network caused delays to more than 45 trains, many of which had to be rerouted or run with passenger transfers. Ukrzaliznytsia deployed 20 diesel locomotives to keep services moving.
