The ferry crossing at the Orlivka checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Romanian border, located along the Danube River, has been temporarily halted following a nighttime Russian attack, Ukraine’s State Customs Service reported on Oct. 2.

The Orlivka-Isaccea checkpoint is an international crossing point that connects Ukraine and Romania. It is located in the village of Orlivka in the Reni district of Odesa Oblast. The crossing operates via a ferry service, allowing the passage of freight, passenger, and private vehicles, as well as pedestrians.

Operations at the checkpoint have been suspended until 11:00 a.m. Drivers are advised to consider this when planning their routes. Further updates on the operations resumption will be provided, customs officials said.

Russian drones, launched from the Black Sea, targeted facilities in Odesa Oblast overnight on Oct. 2, Ukraine’s Air Force reported. The drones were first spotted in Oblast's southern part, heading toward the town of Zatoka.

This suspension follows a previous drone strike on the night of September 26–27, which also targeted Odesa Oblast.

Russian drones hit the city of Izmail, damaging private and apartment buildings, farming houses, and vehicles, Odesa governor Oleh Kiper reported then.

The strike resulted in three fatalities and 14 injuries, including three children: two boys, aged 3 and 13, and a 14-year-old girl, the Prosecutor General's Office added.
