Russian attack hits two Epicentr hypermarkets, food warehouses and energy facilities in Odesa

Fires broke out at several locations following the strikes, Odesa Oblast Governor Oleh Kiper said. No casualties had been reported as of the morning.

Emergency crews were working to eliminate the consequences of the attack.

Videos and reports circulating on social media showed fires at Epicentr home improvement hypermarkets in Odesa.

Two Epicentr locations in the city were hit, company spokesperson Yuliia Chudnovets told Ukrainska Pravda.

“Two Epicentr stores in Odesa were hit,” she said. “Firefighting is ongoing, and the consequences and information about possible casualties are currently being clarified.”

Local outlet Dumskaya reported that fires engulfed one hypermarket in the Kotovskoho residential area in Odesa’s Peresypskyi district and another at the 7th Kilometer in the city’s Khadzhybeiskyi district.

Russia continued its broader aerial assault on Ukraine overnight on Aug. 23-24, using jet-powered drones and guided aerial bombs.

People were killed in the suburbs of Kharkiv, while a vehicle fleet was destroyed in Konotop and part of the city was left without gas supplies.

The latest attack came days after a deadly Russian strike on a shopping center in Kryvyi Rih. Three more victims of that attack were reported on Aug. 24, including two fathers and one of their sons.
