Overnight Russian drone strike leaves parts of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast without power

The head of the regional military administration, Oleksandr Hanzha, said the attack caused power outages and fires in Dnipro and Kryvyi Rih. Energy workers will begin restoration work once security conditions allow, he said.

In Dnipro, a garage complex caught fire, injuring a 34-year-old man. In Kryvyi Rih, a 44-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman were wounded, officials said.

Later, Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the Kryvyi Rih Defense Council, said Russia struck several infrastructure facilities in the city, leaving the Saksahanskyi district and parts of the Pokrovskyi district without electricity.

One large boiler plant in Kryvyi Rih remains offline due to an emergency shutdown, and repair work is ongoing. Water supply continues in all districts, with pumping stations operating on grid power and partially on generators, Vilkul said.

According to the regional administration, air defense forces overnight destroyed 27 Russian drones over Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.

Explosions were heard overnight in Dnipro and Kryvyi Rih, and public broadcaster Suspilne reported power disruptions across parts of the region.

Earlier, energy company DTEK said it had restored electricity to 694,000 households in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast following a large-scale Russian strike on the evening of Jan. 7.
