Explosions rocked Kharkiv as Russian forces attacked the city center with strike drones overnight, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov wrote on Feb. 5.

The first explosions were recorded around 02:33 and 02:40. Residents were urged to remain in shelters until the air raid alert was lifted.

Ukraine’s Air Force previously detected Russian drones moving toward Kharkiv Oblast. Later, the mayor confirmed that one of the Shahed drones hit the central part of the city.

Updated information, an enemy drone struck an administrative building in the Saltivskyi district, causing a fire. The blast wave shattered windows in a nearby residential building and damaged a gas station.

"No casualties were reported yet," Terekhov wrote.

"Emergency services are working at the scene."

A second strike was later reported in the Osnovianskyi district, where another fire broke out. Details are being clarified.

Kharkiv remains under constant threat of attacks. Authorities urge residents to follow safety measures and not ignore air raid warnings.
