Russian forces have advanced in four settlements across Zaporizhzhya, Dnipropetrovsk, and Donetsk oblasts, the DeepState monitoring project reported on Sept. 26.

Analysts said Russian troops moved forward near Novoiivankivka and Olhivske in Zaporizhzhya Oblast.

According to DeepState, Russian units also advanced in Berezove in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and Shandryholove in Donetsk Oblast.

On Sept. 21, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that Russia has begun forming a strategic reserve of newly conscripted soldiers. This suggests the Kremlin is preparing to escalate offensive operations in Ukraine in the near and medium term rather than seek an end to the war.

On Sept. 22, Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed it had “taken control” of Kalynivske in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, a statement that Ukraine’s Joint Forces of Dnipro later denied.

On Sept. 24, DeepState said Russian troops had captured Novomykolaivka in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and Novoiivankivka in Zaporizhzhya Oblast.
