Russian drone strike shuts down Orlivka ferry crossing in Odesa Oblast

Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service stated that Russian Shahed drones hit the international crossing on the border with Romania.

The strike targeted the facility’s main building and grounds, igniting multiple fires that emergency crews managed to maintain.

All vehicle and pedestrian traffic through the border crossing has been temporarily suspended. Authorities have notified Romanian officials of the situation, and traffic is being rerouted to alternative crossing points.

Russian forces launched a prolonged, large-scale airstrike on Odesa Oblast overnight on September 1, deploying loitering munitions from the Black Sea alongside jet-powered drones from multiple directions.

Odesa City Military Administration Head Serhii Lysak reported that local infrastructure was damaged during the overnight attack, adding that no casualties have been reported.

The assault followed a similarly intense bombardment of Odesa on August 27. The overnight barrage – which stretched well into the following morning – damaged a high-rise apartment building and multiple educational facilities.
