Russian forces attacked Ukrainian critical infrastructure with 19 Shahed drones overnight, with Ukraine's air defense shooting down nine of them, the Ukrainian Air Force reported on Telegram on Oct. 4.
The drones were launched from near Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Kursk in Russia, and Cape Chauda in Crimea.
Air defense systems were active in four oblasts: Kyiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, and Kherson. Nine drones were reportedly lost, possibly due to electronic warfare countermeasures, with no information on damage or casualties, the Air Force added.
Air raid alerts were issued in several regions due to the drone threat. In Kyiv, air defense systems were active, and debris from a downed drone hit a residential high-rise, causing a fire. According to the Kyiv City State Administration, there were no casualties.
