Russian troops gain ground in Donetsk and Kursk oblasts

The Russian forces have occupied Petropavlivka, Vozdvyzhenka, and Solone in Donetsk Oblast, as well as Novoivanivka, Leonidovo, and Oleksandriia in Kursk Oblast, Russia, DeepState monitoring group wrote on Jan. 10.

Analysts also stated that Russian troops advanced in Dvorichna and near Zapadne in Kharkiv Oblast.

Further gains were recorded near Kurakhove and Yasynove in Donetsk Oblast.

Frontline situation in Donetsk Oblast

Dec. 30, 2024: Commander-in-Chief  Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that Russian forces continue launching high-casualty "meat grinder" assaults in Donetsk Oblast.

Jan. 1: DeepState described chaotic tactical conditions in Novovasylivka, near Pokrovsk, where both Russian troops and Ukrainian forces were present in nearly every part of the village.

Jan. 2: Khortytsia Operational-Strategic Group spokesperson Viktor Trehubov confirmed that Ukrainian troops still control nearly all of Chasiv Yar.

Jan. 3: DeepState reported Russian advances near five settlements and the occupation of three — Dachenske, Novyi Trud, and Vovkove in Donetsk Oblast.

Jan. 6: Russian forces advanced in Toretsk, Zelenyi, and Petropavlivka, as well as near Vozdvyzhenka, Baranivka, and Pishchane in Donetsk Oblast.

On the same day, the Russian Defense Ministry falsely claimed full control over Kurakhove, while Ukrainian forces reported ongoing urban clashes.

Jan. 8: The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that Russian troops had recently advanced into northwestern Toretsk, reaching the administrative border of the city after weeks of intensified Russian offensives in the area.
