Russian troops push deeper into Donetsk Oblast, occupying Yantarne settlement near Kurakhove

The Russian troops advanced in Yasynove, Uspenivka, Chasiv Yar, near Novoelyzavetivka, and Yantarne.
Yantarne is a settlement in the Kurakhove urban community of Pokrovsk municipality, Donetsk Oblast.
According to the AFU General Staff, Russian troops have launched attacks in multiple areas of the Pokrovsk sector since the start of the day. Fighting has been reported in the areas of Yantarne, Novotoretske, Luch, Zelene, Novyi Trud, Chunishyne, Zviryache, Uspenivka, Novoandriivka, Nadiivka, Petropavlivka, and Shevchenko.
Earlier, DeepState reported that Ukrainian forces managed to retake positions in Shevchenko village near Pokrovsk, while Russian troops invaded the village of Zelene and made advances in other parts of Oblast.
Ongoing urban clashes in Toretsk
Previously, DeepState analysts confirmed that urban battles are ongoing in Toretsk, with Russian troops gradually advancing and the operational situation deteriorating.
On Dec. 31, 2024, Ukraine’s Khortytsia Operational and Strategic Group of Forces reported that heavy urban battles were underway in Toretsk. Russian troops attempted to break through via Shcherbynivka to seize the refractory plant.
On Jan. 3, Ukrainian forces reported that Russian soldiers were disguising themselves in civilian clothing to infiltrate Ukrainian positions. Some waited for reinforcements, while others carried anti-tank mines to destroy buildings where Ukrainian troops were holding defensive positions.
On Jan. 7, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said that Russian forces had recently advanced along Kvіtkova Street, reaching the northwestern administrative border of Toretsk and occupying at least 71% of the city’s territory.
