Lykhoviy reported that Ukrainian forces repelled 10 Russian assaults in the area within 24 hours, seven of which were north of Krynky. "The enemy has become more active compared to previous weeks, with a significant number of assaults occurring daily on this relatively small front," he said.
He emphasized that holding the line in this area is particularly challenging due to the swampy terrain, which complicates the construction of fortifications and defensive positions. Frequent fires further exacerbate the situation. "It's very difficult to maintain these positions, and our defenders are forced to relocate," Lykhoviy added.
The situation remains tense near the Robotyne salient, where Russian forces are advancing in small groups without the use of armored vehicles. Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled three assaults in the area within the past day, and no positions were lost, according to the Tavria command.
Situation in Krynky, Kherson Region: What We Know
On July 16, Liga.net, citing a source in Ukraine's General Staff, reported that Ukrainian troops had to retreat from Krynky. Later, Ukrainian marines confirmed that Defense Forces continue to carry out combat missions near Krynky, although most key positions in the village have been destroyed.
On July 18, Lykhoviy stated that Ukrainian forces were still operating on the east bank of the Kherson region, including around Krynky. He clarified that the situation in the area was "not as critical as some media and bloggers portray," but confirmed that the village and Ukrainian positions there had been almost entirely destroyed by enemy shelling.
