Russian forces launched 136 Shahed, jet-powered Shahed, and Gerbera UAVs, along with Parodiya decoy drones, against Ukraine overnight on October 9, the Air Force reported.

As of 08:00 a.m. local time, air defenses shot down or neutralized 114 enemy UAVs. According to preliminary information, Ukrainian forces managed to shoot down 77 of the 93 Russian jet-powered drones launched in the attack – 83% of them.

However, aerial strikes made impact at eight separate locations, with debris from shot-down targets falling in seven locations.

The Air Force warned that the Russian attack was still underway, with multiple Russian drones in Ukrainian airspace.

Russian forces launched six guided aerial bombs on Zaporizhzhya that same morning, primarily targeting a residential area in the city. The strikes killed one person and wounded nine others, including a 14-year-old girl.

Russian drones struck Ivano-Frankivsk on October 8, killing a security guard. Mayor Ruslan Martsinkiv reported that debris from shot-down targets damaged an outbuilding and sparked a fire.
