Explosions shake Kyiv as Russia launches another air raid on Ukraine

An air raid alert was sounded in Kyiv and several other oblasts on the morning of July 31 amid threats of a Russian ballistic and drone attack, the Air Force reported.

Updated at 10:56 a.m.: Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that debris from a shot-down drone sparked a fire in the city’s Holosiivskyi district. The blaze has been contained.

Updated at 9:54 a.m.: All-clear sounded in Kyiv.

Updated at 9:42 a.m.: Ukrainian air defenses intercepted Russian drones over the capital.

Updated at 9:35 a.m.: Explosions were reported on the outskirts of Kyiv. Local monitoring channels reported drones approaching Vyshhorod and Obolon.

Updated at 9:28 a.m.: The ballistic missile alert has been lifted. However, the Air Force warned that Russian jet-powered drones are currently approaching Kyiv.

The Ukrainian Air Force sounded a missile threat alert, warning of possible ballistic missile launches from Russia’s Kursk Oblast.

Russian forces launched 255 drones against Ukraine overnight on July 31, with air defenses intercepting 195 of them, the Air Force reported.
