Russian overnight assault targeted civilian areas in Dnipro, leaving 18 injured - beginning with a wave of strike drones before escalating into a devastating missile barrage, local governor Oleksandr Hanzha reported on May 18.

Eight adults — four women and four men — were hospitalized in moderate condition, regional officials added. The two injured children are now receiving outpatient care.

The bombardment triggered several fires across the city, including a fire that engulfed the roof of a multi-story residential building. Emergency crews rushed to the scene to extinguish the flames, and authorities noted that information regarding further casualties is still being clarified.

In addition to the residential strike, Russian forces targeted a warehouse storing pyrotechnic products in the wider Dnipro district, igniting another large fire. Preliminary reports indicated no casualties at that industrial site.
