Russian missile attack on Sumy: Almost 100 wounded, classrooms wrecked, terror continues / The New Voice of Ukraine

The number of injured in the March 24 Russian missile strike on the densely populated residential area of Sumy has risen to 99, including 17 children, Deputy Mayor Artem Kuznetsov told public broadcaster Suspilne the following day.

According to Education and Science Minister Oksen Lisovyi, six educational institutions were damaged.

“Sumy. Another terrorist act by Russia... Six educational institutions were damaged. Fortunately, all the students who were at school at the time of the attack are alive and well,” he wrote, noting that classes in Sumy schools are being held in shelters.

He also thanked the teachers and psychologists who provided support and assistance to the children.

Efforts are underway to eliminate the consequences of the attack, including the dismantling of damaged and dangerous structures in residential buildings. The State Emergency Service (SES) has deployed canine teams to repair roofs and windows.
