A Russian ballistic missile strike on the city of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi in Odesa Oblast on June 23 destroyed an educational institution and killed two people, Odesa Oblast Governor Oleh Kiper reported.

At least 12 others were injured in the attack, with three in critical condition. Among the wounded are two teenagers, who are in moderate condition, Kiper said.

The missile hit a school building, which partially collapsed. Emergency crews are searching the rubble for possible survivors.

“There may still be people trapped—adults from the teaching staff,” Kiper wrote on Telegram. “Fortunately, the children were on summer break and not at the facility.”

Search and rescue operations were ongoing as of the latest update.

The strike was part of a larger overnight assault on Ukraine that included 352 Shahed drones and decoy UAVs, 11 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, and five Iskander-K cruise missiles.

Ukrainian air defense reportedly intercepted 354 aerial threats, with 158 shot down by kinetic fire and 196 electronically neutralized.

In Kyiv, at least eight people were killed and around 30 injured in the same wave of attacks.
