Scores injured & hospitalized as 3 high-rise apartments ablaze after Russian missile attack on Kyiv

19 people have been hospitalized, while rescuers have freed 17 people. 117 residents were evacuated from the building.

The Kyiv City Military Administration reported on the consequences of the strike in Kyiv's districts as of 9:05 a.m. EET:

• In Solomianskyi, two high-rise buildings are on fire
• In Desnianskyi, a supermarket is on fire
• In Darnytskyi, non-residential premises are damaged
• In Holosiivskyi and Shevchenkivskyi, debris fell in open fields
• In Pecherskyi, debris fell on the roof of a nine-story building, another residential building, and a private building
• In Obolonskyi, a residential building caught fire, and debris fell on non-residential and warehouses
• In Podilskyi, a market area is on fire; a gas pipe is damaged, and missile fragments fell on non-residential buildings. There may be a fire in a residential building.

Emergency services are operating at the attack sites, and information about casualties is being clarified.

There are problems with electricity and water supply in several city districts due to the missile strike. DTEK promised to restore power after the attack ends.

Russia carried out another massive attack on Ukraine overnight on Jan. 1-2. All 35 drones were shot down in the first wave of the attack. Russia launched several missiles, including ballistic Kinzhals, from 16 Tu-95MS bombers during the second wave. 

In addition to Kyiv, one person is dead and over 40 injured in Kharkiv, while explosions were also reported in Kropyvnytskyi.
