Russian missile hits Ukrainian army training site, killing and injuring soldiers

The attack struck a training area used by one of the mechanized brigades of Ukraine’s Ground Forces. The military confirmed that exercises were underway at the time of the strike.

Thanks to timely safety measures taken after an air raid alert was issued, the Ground Forces said they were able to avoid mass casualties. However, the strike still resulted in deaths and injuries.

“All those injured are receiving prompt and qualified medical care in healthcare facilities,” the statement said. The Ground Forces expressed their condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed.

A special commission has been formed within the Ground Forces Command to investigate the circumstances of the strike, and law enforcement officers are working at the scene.

“Additional security measures are being taken to protect the lives and health of service members in the event of further missile and air strikes by the aggressor state,” the military said.
