Russian Orsk refinery halts operations after Ukrainian drone strike — Reuters

A drone damaged several refining units at the facility, the sources said.

The Orsk refinery has a nominal processing capacity of 5.76 million metric tons per year, equivalent to about 115,200 barrels per day.

Industry data show that the plant processed 4.2 million metric tons of crude oil in 2024.

That year, it produced 1.8 million metric tons of diesel, 600,000 metric tons of gasoline, 500,000 metric tons of bitumen and 200,000 metric tons of fuel oil.

Russian Telegram channels reported on Aug. 11 that the refinery in Orsk, Orenburg Oblast, had been struck by drones, triggering a large fire.

Ukraine’s General Staff later confirmed the strike on the Orsk refinery.

The facility is located more than 1,500 kilometers, or about 930 miles, from the Ukrainian border.
